U.S. is leading research into lasers as weaponry
Regarding "FBI: Terrorists could use lasers to blind pilots, down planes" (Dec. 11):
At the forefront of laser research is the Department of Defense, which issued its "Laser Master Plan" in March 2000.
Anyone interested in the subject can find countless papers put out by our own government detailing the potential for the use of directed energy weapons by our military and law enforcement personnel, and recommending extensive research in these areas, even into measuring the "lethality" of such weapons.
Sometimes terrorists are just bureaucrats doing their jobs.
