U.N. governs Gaza,

not the Israelis

The letter-writer Carolyn Diem and the minister she quotes, Peter Dougherty, are seriously misinformed about the situation in Gaza. It is the United Nations that is responsible for the governance of Gaza, not Israel. The United States does not give $3 billion a year to Israel specifically "for the occupation of Gaza." In addition, Egypt is the country that set up the refugee camps there in 1948 because the Egyptian government would not allow any Palestinians into their country.
