Clergy should promote dialogue on vigil issues

I am writing in regard to the opinion piece entitled "Local ministers urge pickets to quit Saturday protests at Beth Israel." Rather than demand that those who vigil quit the protest, local ministers could encourage - just as the article suggests - "open, candid, respectful dialogue on difficult issues." Why use clergy solidarity to repudiate rather than to facilitate, negotiate and mediate?
